Contented cows give better…um… milk
Can’t say why this popped into my mind, really, I just can’t explain it. It was just something to do with unconcerned citizens.…
Pondering global affairs
Today is Sunday, August 01st, 2010
When my oldest son, a Marine, left for war and crossed the border from Kuwait into Iraq in March 2003 I started writing my conscience. After two tours that young combat veteran, my first born son, is now permanently disabled suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and his mother is now an ardent peace activist. Today I am active with Veterans for Peace, Military Families Speak Out and on the board of Rural Organizing Project Also, I am CEO of Rogue River Wind, Ltd and the inventor of a low profile wind turbine incorporating a high bandwidth relativistic generator

Whoop-eeeeeeee !!!!!
It just occured to me, after watching the Contented Cows clip, how “udderly” fortunate we are here in Coquille.
We have our very own,
Nothing like it anyplace else in the County,
Somewhat authentic:
DR. STRANGELOVE !!!!!!!
Yup, I’m gonna stay, this should be “veddy, veddy interestink”!
WAY TO GO “DOCTOR”.
And silly me thought we’d never see another one !

So let me get this right, Ms. Keller, you failed to signal, and you were ticketed, correct? If not, why were you not ticketed?
Then you tell us your husband is driving a vehicle with only one light, and he was ticketed, right? If not, why was he not ticketed?
I would like a public explanation from you or the PD, to find out why you were not? By your very positive accounting of multiple stops by the Coquille PD, I am assuming you were not ticketed. Hey, Ted Bundy was a very personable guy, if he didn’t assault you, but if he did, watch out baby !
Geez, in the old days you almost had to do the dirty deed to get out of a ticket, now it seems all you have to do is stand in front of city hall with a I HEART THE COQUILLE POLICE DEPT. I can’t thank you enough, I never realized that’s the way in works here in Coquille.
What a help, huh guys? All you citizens who have received such tickets might want to go in and find out why you were ticketed and these folks weren’t.
Ms. Keller, these are precisely the type of accounts that have a lot of people fuming, love the cops, no tickets, only life saving help. Can you possibly see how infuriating your actions, words, and now apparantly, you and your hubbys’ ability to flaunt the laws and get away with it make the people of this community who have not been so “privilaged” as you two feel?
I guess smiley faces are just easier for some people .

You do make a very good point, themguys… how come some people escape a fix it ticket or get off with just a warning and others do not?
No wonder the good doctor is afflicted with serial contentedness (preferable to Bundy’s serial compulsion). Too contented in fact to responsibly check her own vehicle before a long drive. Not very considerate of other drivers and their safety.

Sounds to me like maybe the good ol Doc stuck her foot in her mouth! And they say the concerned citizens are the fools! Wonder if any more of her “patients” have dropped her. Surely more than one in this town has wised up.
Comment by magix on 19 March 2008:
Hey Cory, great to hear from you!
The doc does seem to have a sheltered view. I wonder does she know there is a war going on in Iraq and Afghanistan? Does she know Coquille has an almost 8% unemployment rate? Does she know there are 278 homeless teenagers in Coos County? Does she know your daughter’s murder is unsolved?
If she knows, does she care or does being content preclude ‘concern’? Complacent Citizens of Coquille is more appropriate — or constipated, or constrained or cow towed or… oh the list is just endless.
How are you doing? You have been busy I note on The World and I am proud of you
Comment by Cory Courtright on 20 March 2008:
Personally I’m thinking CONSTIPATED! All she knows is that she hearts our CPD! I pulled up to the courthouse the day of their “thing” and nearly barffed! Couldn’t believe it. FLAKE!
I’m doin’ ok. Yep — get a little tensed up over there at the World blog! I’m cancelling my subscription by the way on that one — - don’t print half of what I say — piss me off!!!!!
Anyway — gotta take my kitty to the vet — check in with ya later k? Take care Mary.….….

There definitely seems to be some major disconnect between being a responsible concerned citizen and the doctor’s comments. First there are her mind numbingly thoughtless comments about Carl Foster whereby she then sincerely believes his family would welcome cards and letters delivered from HER.
Then we have the complete disregard for fellow citizens who have been hurt by the actions, inaction and excessive action of the local police. She even commends them for saving Foster’s life after causing his life threatening injury.
Anyway, it is too silly even to think about. Thankfully, the Foster family will be bringing a civil suit and then the DA can explain why his investigation could not ferret out the information and facts that the civil investigators could.

[…] Content Citizens of Coquille along with the Coquille PD want to have a party, August 25 in recognition of National Night Out. Building off an earlier rally in support of prosecution fruit pickers and traffic nazis, the event is billed in a letter to the editor by Nancy Keller as a bridge building, crime prevention, bike safety and barbecue extravaganza. In a unique marketing ploy there may be an opportunity to taser Officer Webley?!?! (too bad Carl Foster can’t be there) Also attending are the newly formed Coquille Valley Crime Stoppers. […]
