When my oldest son, a Marine, left for war and crossed the border from Kuwait into Iraq in March 2003 I started writing my conscience. After two tours that young combat veteran, my first born son, is now permanently disabled suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and his mother is now an ardent peace activist. Holy Moly!!! Reaves challenges Britton for mayor

Yes, there you have it. Former Coquille Police Chief Mike Reaves has thrown his hat in the ring to run against incumbent mayor, Steve Britton. More on this later as details pour in… so far, however, reaction from everyone I have spoken with has been total shock.

Britton was last challenged, if memory serves, by Reaves’ friend and ally, Bruce Parker. This may be a contentious race. Britton is suggesting public debates for all city council positions. A good idea, I think.
