When my oldest son, a Marine, left for war and crossed the border from Kuwait into Iraq in March 2003 I started writing my conscience. After two tours that young combat veteran, my first born son, is now permanently disabled suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and his mother is now an ardent peace activist. Today I am active with Veterans for Peace, Military Families Speak Out and on the board of Rural Organizing Project Also, I am CEO of Rogue River Wind, Ltd and the inventor of a low profile wind turbine incorporating a high bandwidth relativistic generator

Just wait until you see what he mounts over his mantle…

  2. I wonder if there is a lemming chair anywhere

  3. I would drop the family jewels between these before I would give my vote to the Hawaiian Stallion…

  4. Isn’t that funny, I know someone that happened to. (a pair of fingers, not family jewels)

  5. Operating Coos County through six commissioners, who hire a county manager to run the county further removes the citizen voter from his government. Our County Commissioners need to spend their time educating themselves in “our” county business

Yes, apathy has gripped most citizens. Persons who speak out and involve themselves are targets, and labeled. We have morph from a republic into an aristocratic oligarchic type structure for our government.

City councils and districts in the county run on the manager, large member boards, system. Ever thought you had a “say so” at any of these meetings. What about an urban renewal meeting, structured for no citizen input, unless selected to a committee. Ever been to a port commission meeting. Collectively, the airport board, through this system, has created a mess. Your input is through the joining of a group, IBO, or SCDC, or being a golfer, not a person who flies North.

The $60,000 to exercise the citizen right for regress is an option in our from of government, both sides have the option to spend that money. There are other forms of government in the world where that option is not available.

The citizens have chosen to have the timber dollars and County resources for infrastructure, communication technology and mechanization, over law enforcement and safety. So be it. The options are still there.
