EU to surpass target of 20 percent energy from renewable sources by 2020

“An analysis of action plans from the 27 member states by the European Renewable Energy Association (EWEA) found 15 countries will exceed their national targets, with Bulgaria leading the way”. The 34% of EU electricity demand to be met by renewable sources in 2020 would be made up of 14.1% wind (10% onshore and 4% offshore), 10.5% hydro, 6.6% biomass, 2.7% solar PV, 0.5% CSP, 0.3% geothermal and 0.1% ocean.
