The local Bandon VA has a lot of veterans who pass through or live in the area desperately in need of clothing. Please take your clean, mended and serviceable but unwanted clothes to the clinic in Bandon and drop them off upstairs at the counselor’s office. Mens and womens’ clothing needed.

Oops! Bob Main irritates Coos County peace community
March 16th, 2008 · No Comments
As I have steadfastly refused to join a political party since 1992 I don’t much care if a candidate is republican or democrat. Consequently I didn’t much care that Bob Main was a republican as long as he was willing to work with disparate opinions and groups unlike the present commissioner, John Griffith. […]

Thought police in the guise of a new commission enacted in the House
October 28th, 2007 · 3 Comments
Went for a 42 mile bike ride at break neck speed in an effort to make some sense out of this bill passed quietly in the House with only 6 rational dissenters. Our own Peter DeFazio voted yea by the way and I will waste no time finding out what the hell he was […]

Once again Bandon progressives show their true support for the troops in words, deeds and by giving generously to Safe Haven. Thank you to everyone and to the soldiers and Marines with the courage to resist.

Lt Ehren Watada may be tried in civilian instead of military court
October 11th, 2007 · 1 Comment
Given that war resistor advocate, Gerry Condon, will be visiting Bandon tomorrow evening, this is especially appropriate. For those who may not know, Lt Watada made international news when he refused to deploy with his men to Iraq, claiming the war was illegal and therefore he would be violating his oath to uphold the […]

Passions intensify at Bandon vigil
September 6th, 2007 · 18 Comments
Every Friday evening in Bandon at the intersection of Hwy 101 and 42S dozens of citizens exercise their 1st Amendment rights. For over two years I have participated, first with Women In Black (WIB) which hold a silent vigil on the southeast corner. More recently I have stood with Veterans For Peace (VFP) on the northwest corner where I often hold a sign which reads, “Refuse to fight a war begun by men who refused to fight a war”.
