Olbermann – Bids adieu to Palin
Many of us are going to miss Sarah Palin for the endless stream of ‘Palinisms’ not unlike the ‘Bushisms’ that fill books, calendars, desk pads and dart boards. Fearful of a McCain presidency we prayed to the heavens for a miracle and God sent Sarah Palin, the gift that kept on giving.
We may owe her a huge debt of gratitude for contributing, in the aggregate, to the election of Barack Hussein Obama as the 44th President of the United States of America.

Rejoicing in the streets
People traveled from near and far to surround the White House and voice their joy and bask in the warmth of renewed standing around the world. America is on its way back!

Oregon’s Senate race still undecided
Golly, with roughly 70% of the votes counted it is still too close to call the Merkley vs Smith race though Smith has a fraction advantage.
As of 8:31 AM it is Merkley 577,043 with 47% and Smith at 586,972 and 48%… Portland pollsters believe Merkley will edge out Smith because of the large number of democratic votes still uncounted.
Local Coquille election results
Steve Britton retains his seat as mayor of Coquile with a win margin of 70%
Dian Courtright earns 546 votes which puts her in line to replace Kathy Hagen who no longer qualifies for city council. Congratulations Dian!!!!
Wayne Krieger and Jeff Kruse retain their seats although it was a hard won battle for Krieger as Rick Goche proved that Krieger has not represented his district with eqnanimity.
President Elect Barack Obama won Coos County by a narrow margin over Senator McCain.
After eight long years we have an articulate, intelligent, thoughtful president who will not make us cringe every time he speaks to another foreign leader. He is young but I believe he will make sure he knows what he is talking about before he acts… a stark contrast to what we have been used to.
UPDATE: In the end, McCain edged out Obama in Coos County – 12,475 to 12,413
Ralph Nader earned 352 votes, Cynthia McKinney 78, Bob Barr 142, Chuck Baldwin 160.
