June 20 was set as the date to get the rail cars back on the track and rolling at 10 mph. At last night’s Port meeting it was announced that October is now the expected date to complete the repairs.

Now that we have a conservative Republican boy’s club sitting on the Coos County Commission the drum is beating to run Coos County government like a business. Without repeating my argument that government cannot be run like a business it does beg the question of which business model our appointed leaders seek to employ?

Port gives Southport Lumber sweetheart terms in land purchase

Southport Lumber originally moved to its North Spit location to take advantage of enterprise zone property tax exemptions. According to October 2009 Port minutes the intended use for the thirty-three acres is to establish a whole log chipping facility and is projected to add twelve local jobs.
